It really was an incredibly open process. We released five design documents with different areas of expertise within each and we invited the players to give us feedback, comment on the things that they liked and didn’t like and give us suggestions about how things could change. We talked about the ideas that we had for the things that we wanted to put into the Elf City. Once the voting ended, we started discussing the ideas with the players on all of our social media channels like Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and on our own forums. How have the players helped with the development of this new city? It was a tough choice and it was really close with the Elf City winning with about 54 percent of the vote. It was also the potential to finish the elf storyline, which has been in the game for a very, very long time. We’ve always talked about adding a new city to the game, a home for high-level players. The Elf city is something that the players have expected for the last ten years. However, up against that was the Elf City. The Inventor skill is a brand new skill all about customizing your own gear. It was something that we decided would be a good addition to the game. This is quite an apt subject for me because the Inventor skill was something that I came up with. Mark Ogilvie, design director for Runescape, discusses the evolution of Runescape and what’s in store for those players who have invested the time exploring the game world in this exclusiveĪt the beginning of the year, we made a poll which asked the players to choose between the Lost Elf City and the Inventor skill. Now Jagex, which offers weekly updates to its players, has unlocked the doors of Prifddinas with The Lost City of the Elves, a brand new section of the game that will currently only allow the top 20% of gamers through its prestigious gates. With over 220 million registered players, the fantasy MMO has grown over the last 13 years, culminating in a complete graphical upgrade last year.

Take a look, and let us know your thoughts on the forums. We're getting closer to the Elf City launch, so it's high time for a walk in the forest. Get hold of one of these when you subscribe at 25% discount in our Summer Special membership offer. It will also allow you to start collecting new crystal resources for use when the city opens. Remember, too, that the crystal amulet will give you daily bonus XP towards the Prifddinas skill requirements. Completing them and their pre-requisite quests is quite a feat, so now's the time to get stuck into some elven adventuring. Within the Light and Catapult Construction are the quest requirements for entering Prifddinas when it opens later this year. We've also rebuilt the town of Lletya with some elegant woodwork, giving it an atmosphere unique to the elves' woodland realm. The areas in which those quests take place have been spritzed, shined and retextured, and look better than ever. Today's graphical updates are focused around four quests: Underground Pass, Mourning's End I, Mourning's End II, and Within the Light.
